There are valleys, rivers, peaks, mountain pass, and waterfalls. What more do the travelers wish for in the trek? Certainly there are some tips you have to follow for doing Annapurna Base Camp Trek (ABC Trek). They are listed below:

Find a group:

You might wish to travel with the group or alone, that’s totally your choice.  But if you prefer trekking alone, at least do find a group to walk with in some unsafe places or talk to your trek agency for the help. Your freedom won’t be hampered if you walk with the group you feel comfortable with, they may be your own group or not, that doesn’t matter at all. There is also another problem if you have thought to trek alone. You may not get rooms in the upper Annapurna sanctuary because they prefer group while giving rooms. You can just find a group for staying at the hotels, it is not necessary to be with them while walking.

Be prepared for emergency power supply:

It would be boring to travel with the switched off mobiles or cameras. Always come prepared with the power supply for the emergency cases. You can carry battery powered or solar powered chargers for your mobiles, cameras or any of your gadgets. Do not completely depend upon the power supply or electricity while going for ABC trek.

Hot water bag:

Always carry hot water bag with you, you may need them at night. Put hot water in it and keep with you while going to the bed, but make sure you wouldn’t fall sleep, keeping hot water bag on your bed, it might get leaked and you will have to face the next big problem.

Selection of drink:

Do not get drunk, it will make your trek impossible, but a little bit of drink will make you energetic. You can drink Nepali dark rum (Khukuri Rum). You can also drink energy drink like glucose, lemon juice or any other juice. It will make you fresh whole over the day.

Precautions according to the weather:

Usually it has cold weather, always carry warm clothes with you. If you have thought to trek on Winter season, take the hot water bag, hot water bottle and warm clothes. If you have thought to travel on Summer Season, carry juice and comfortable clothes. Summer is not the right time to trek as the view won’t be clear in summer. The best time for ABC trek is Spring or Autumn. You can view the real beauty of ABC at this time.

Do not completely trust your guides:

Guides are there to guide you throughout the trek, they help you to reach the destination. They are the one who needs to be trusted, but still do not trust them blindly. You cannot trust your own friends sometime then how can you blindly believe someone else? So, always be alert and careful throughout your trek.

Take suggestion from your physician:

Every time only the interest to trek isn’t sufficient. You have to be physically and mentally well for this because ABC trek isn’t that easy. You can take advice from your physician before leaving for the trek.

Experience and knowledge:

If you have experience of any trek, you can easily go for ABC trek. But if it's your first time then you have to be clear about certain things like ABC trek has rocky routes and challenging altitude. To make yourself ready, exercise daily. You can try out running and skipping, it will be extremely helpful for you.

Have a healthy and balance diet meal:

There are many restaurants, hotels. You should not struggle with hunger during ABC trek. Do not eat spicy food before leaving for a trek. Have a healthy diet like dal bhat, soup, potato items, hot drinks and coffee etc. Do not eat too much. Eat less, but eat time and again. So, that you will not feel weak during the ABC trek.

First aid and other safety:

Always carry a first aid kit with you while going for a trek, you might need it. If you get altitude sickness, inform it to the company or your trekking agency in Nepal, they will be there to provide you the emergency services. Have enough food and drink to avoid this situation. It is very important to remain healthy throughout the trek, otherwise you couldn’t enjoy it fully.
